Pretty Sights in New Harmony

Good evening. It's been quite sometime since I've taken the time to chronical my life with words, and not just photos. Recently, my wife, my daughter and I took a day trip to a small town in western Indiana called New Harmony. It's twenty miles west of Evansville near the Illinois border.

In 1814, Father George Rapp led a group of about 800 German Lutheran immigrants (called the Harmonie Society) from Pennsylvania to 30,000 acres on the Wabash River. The Harmonists, as they were called, came to prepare for the Second Coming. Most of the original town still stands. There are log cabins, homesteads and walking gardens along with an Atheneum, or center for learning. The history of the town is intriguing. There are enough things to do that even small kids wll have fun. The lily that's pictured on the left was on of many flowers that we saw that day.

Fun Weekend

Every once in a while, it's good for couples to get some "alone time" from the kids. Husbands and wives spend hours and hours being mom and dad, trust me I know. Last weekend, Beth and I had fun being kidless in Nashville. We enjoyed wine, dinner and each others company. Oh, we also saw a great concert.

A Walk In The Snow

Today was a fun day to play in the snow, that is if you are five years old and wrapped up like Ralphie. My daughter Mallori, the aforementioned five year old was itching to go outside and make snow angels and play. I used this opportunity to get her to go for a walk with me. She happily agreed. I already had my camera and tripod together so off we went. It was cold, snowy and awesome.

Barns and Woods

After receiving some inspiration from a friend, I took to the fields around my home on Saturday to photograph a few structures. It was windy and snowy, but I had fun.

Appreciation

So, I've never been a person that accepts compliments very well. Let me give the back story before I get started. For Christmas last year, I framed and mounted several of my prints to give to my family and in laws. To me, it's cool to be able to share my experiences through photographs. The response to them has been overwhelmingly positive. It makes me smile inside to know that something that I do brings joy to others.
